The Ocean 44 Super Sport was built on a shortened 46 Super Sport hull with a restyled deck and superstructure. A good-selling boat, 111 Ocean 44s were built during her 6-year production run, and used models remained in demand for many years after the last hull rolled off the line in 1991. With her flat bottom hull (just 1.5 degrees of transom deadrise) and narrow aftersections, the 44 is fast and agile but a harsh ride in a chop. Below deck, the two-stateroom, two-head interior is arranged with the galley down, separated from the salon by a breakfast bar. The guest stateroom contains twin berths (as well as a built-in clothes dryer), and a walkaround double bed is found in the master stateroom. Note that the galley is large enough for an optional dishwasher and trash compactor. Unlike many Ocean models of her era, the engine room in the 44 offers good access to the motors. The cockpit came standard with a tackle center, cockpit controls, washdown, a teak sole, and teak covering boards. Topside, the large flybridge is arranged with bench seating forward of the helm. Optional 485hp GM 6-71 diesels cruise the Ocean 44 Super Sport around 27 knots and reach 30+ knots top.
