Clearly dated by today’s motor yacht standards, the Ocean 42 Sunliner is basically an Ocean 42 Super Sport (1980–83) with a full-width aft cabin replacing the Super Sport’s cockpit. She rides on a low-deadrise, modified-V hull—an efficient bottom designed for speed and quick acceleration. The two-stateroom interior of the 42 Sunliner is arranged with the galley and dinette down and a walkaround queen bed in the master stateroom. Both heads are fitted with separate stall showers, and large windows provide plenty of natural lighting in the salon. As it was with all Ocean models of her era, the interior was colorfully decorated and finished with plenty of varnished teak woodwork. The 42 Sunliner came with few options. Standard equipment included a generator, garbage disposal, washer/dryer, vacuum system, instant hot water, microwave oven, and much more. Like the 42 Super Sport from which she was designed, the engine room in the Sunliner is compact with limited outboard engine access. Several diesel options were offered during her production run. Twin GM 6-71TI diesels cruise the Ocean 42 Sunliner around 25 knots.
