The Ocean Alexander 48 and 50 Sedans (the 48 is pictured above; the better-selling 50 has a slightly larger cockpit) are a pair of upmarket cruising yachts with spacious interiors to go with their sleek, Euro-style appearance. A lot of manufacturers will pack three staterooms in a boat this size, but the two-stateroom interior of the 48/50 makes more sense to those who value a more open salon and additional cockpit space. Not only are the staterooms larger than other boats her size, but the galley—which is forward in the salon—is huge with enough counter space to satisfy any gourmet chef. The interior is beautifully finished with handcrafted teak joinery with custom mirrors and high-end fabrics. Note that a lower helm and deck access door were standard. The cockpit—partially sheltered with a bridge overhang—has a transom door for easy access to the water. Additional features include oversize salon windows, a large flybridge with room for a dinghy, and a well-arranged engine room. A good performer with relatively small engines, twin 375hp Caterpillar diesels (or 400hp 6V53 Detroits) will cruise the 48/50 Sedan 17–18 knots.
