The Ocean Alexander 456 Classico is a solid, heavily built cruiser whose classic lines and quality construction made her a popular boat throughout the 1990s. She’s built on a beamy semi-displacement hull with cored hullsides and a cutaway keel that protects the running gear. With the house set well forward on the hull, the Classico is a very roomy boat inside. Her two-stateroom interior is arranged in the conventional manner with a centerline queen berth aft, a mid-level galley, and V-berths forward. Both heads have stall showers, and the teak joinery applied throughout the interior is finished to a very high standard. Note the port and starboard deck doors in the salon. Topside, the flybridge comes with L-shaped lounge seating aft of the helm, and there’s space for a dinghy on the aft cabintop. The deep, step-down cockpit of the 456 includes a transom door. Additional features include a folding radar arch, full walkaround decks, teak handrails, bow pulpit and fiberglass swim platform. No lightweight, standard 220 Cummins (or 210hp Cat) diesels cruise the 456 Classico at 10–12 knots.
