Good-selling models for Ocean Alexander during their production years, the 420 and 440 Sundeck yachts differ only in the larger cockpit dimensions of the 440 model. Both share the same modified-V hull with cored hullsides, a shallow keel and moderate transom deadrise, and both incorporate the sleek European styling characteristics that made Alexander boats so popular during the 1990s. Below, the two-stateroom, galley-down layout was available with an offset double berth or V-berths in the forward stateroom. Both heads are fitted with stall showers, and a lower helm was standard in the salon. The interior woodwork—mostly teak although light oak was occasionally used—is extremely well crafted as it is in all Alexander yachts. The full-width afterdeck can accommodate several deck chairs, and the flybridge is arranged with seating for six. Additional features include a well-organized engine room, hardtop and radar arch, wide side decks, and generous storage. Twin 250hp GM and Cummins engines cruise the 420 or 440 at 15 knots (about 18 knots top), and 350hp or 375hp Cats cruise at 20 knots and reach a top speed of 23–24 knots.
