The introduction of the 390 Sundeck in 1986 marked the beginning of what became a successful series of midsize Alexander sundeck models. She was built on a modified-V hull with cored hullsides and a relatively wide beam, and it’s worth noting that the 390—like all Alexander yachts of her era—was not an inexpensive boat compared with other Taiwan imports. Below deck, her galley-down floorplan is arranged with double berths in both staterooms (V-berths were optional in the bow stateroom), and there are separate stall showers in both head compartments. The salon dimensions are more than adequate for a boat of this size, and the interior was completely finished with handcrafted teak or light oak woodwork. Topside, the helm console is located well forward on the flybridge, and the full-width aft deck is large enough for entertaining a small group of friends. Most 390s were sold with a radar arch and hardtop. Several engine options were offered over the years including 275hp Lehmans, 250hp GMs, 306hp Volvos, and 300hp Cummins. Depending upon the engines, cruising speeds range from 15–17 knots, and top speeds are around 19–21 knots.
