Built in China and sold mostly on the West Coast, the North Pacific 43 Pilothouse (called the 42 PH until 2008) is a durable cruising yacht whose traditional lines and attractive price made her a serious player in this segment of the market. As 43-footers go, the North Pacific is not a “big” boat inside; her 12'7"" beam is moderate compared with many other trawler-style boats her length. The raised pilothouse floorplan consists of a full-beam salon with a settee along the starboard side and convertible dinette and U-shaped galley to port. Two staterooms and a single head are forward and below, and the guest stateroom to port is available with a single or double bed or it can be finished out as an office. A bench seat sits behind the pilothouse helm seat, and molded steps ascend to the bridge deck on both sides of the boat. An upper (flybridge) helm station is standard. The North Pacific is constructed on a solid fiberglass semi-displacement hull (complete with simulated plank lines), and her slender beam results in a hull that is easily driven and fuel-efficient. She’ll cruise at 8–10 knots with a single 230hp Cummins diesel burning 4–5 gallons per hour. Twin engines were optional.2013
