With her ship-like appearance, the Nordhavn 35 will appeal to experienced cruisers who appreciate the virtues of functional design and uncompromising construction. She’s built on a semi-displacement hull with rounded bilges, a deep forefoot, and a full-length keel with an attached rudder. The accommodations of the 35 are designed for the cruising couple. The single stateroom is surprisingly spacious, and the galley-down layout allows for an open and comfortable salon. Everything about this boat seems overbuilt, and the engine room—reached from a door in the galley—is designed for easy access to all important service points. The Nordhavn 35 also excels in storage space throughout the interior and outside in the huge cockpit lazarette. Helm visibility from the elevated wheelhouse is excellent. Note the commercial-grade doors and windows. Early models with a single 350hp Yanmar diesel cruise at 7–8 knots. Beginning with hull #9, hull and drive train modifications boosted the cruising speed to 11–12 knots when powered by a 370hp Yanmar. A total of 24 Coastal Pilots were reportedly built.
