The second powerboat model developed by MJM (and built by Boston Boatworks), the 29z is a top-tier express from a company known for its series of fuel-efficient, high-tech cruising yachts. The 29z is offered in three configurations; the Down East with roll-up side windows, the Express with extended side windows, and an outboard version of the Express able to hit 50 knots with F250 Yamahas. All share the same basic layout, including a large single-level cockpit and pilothouse with wraparound lounge seating for as many as eight. Below, the interior of the 29z is striking in its elegant simplicity. The galley is to port, with an enclosed head compartment opposite. Forward of both is a wraparound leather settee with a centerline table. (The table can be removed to convert this into a double berth.) Woodwork is varnished cherry, the furnishings and hardware are to the highest standard, and fit and finish is second to none. Additional features include a teak-and-holly cabin sole, Stidd helm chairs, teak cockpit decking, swim platform, windlass, bow thruster, and trim tabs. Powered with a single Volvo 260hp sterndrive diesel, the 29z is said to deliver nearly 3 miles per gallon at 25 knots.
