The Meridian 381 Sedan is a slightly revised version of the Bayliner 3788 Motor Yacht that was first introduced in 2001. (She became the Meridian 381 in 2003 when Bayliner went out of the big-boat business and Meridian Yachts was formed.) With her modern styling and expansive interior, the affordable price of the 381 makes her an appealing yacht for entry-level buyers on a budget. Built on a low-deadrise hull with a wide beam and shallow keel, the two-stateroom, galley-up interior of the 381 is highlighted with high-gloss cherry woodwork, faux leather upholstery, and subtle earth-tone fabrics. For a 38-footer, the salon seems exceptionally open and inviting with facing settees aft and a full-size dinette forward. Below, an island berth is located in the master stateroom, while the guest stateroom is partially tucked under the salon floor. In the cockpit, molded steps provide easy access to the flybridge. (Note that the extended flybridge shades most of the cockpit.) A radar arch, transom door, and teak-and-holly galley floor were standard. Twin 320hp MerCruiser gas inboards cruise the 381 Sedan at 15–16 knots and top out in the mid 20s.
