The Marlow 78 Explorer is a heavily built pilothouse yacht whose rugged construction and exceptional finish rank her among the premium yachts of her era. Built in China on Kevlar-reinforced fully cored hull, Marlows have an unusual bottom design with the prop shafts enclosed in twin keel struts giving more protection to the props. A semi-custom yacht, the 78 Explorer’s satin teak interior consists of a spacious main salon with posh leather seating, full-size wet bar, and formal dining area forward. Three steps up from the salon is the large galley and dinette which is a gathering point for guests and family alike when cruising from the lower helm. There are four staterooms below including a full beam master suite with king bed and his-and-hers heads, and a VIP suite forward with queen bed. To starboard is a guest stateroom with a double berth (with washer/dryer under), and to port is a guest stateroom with single berths and ensuite head. Accessed from the transom, crew quarters include twin bunks, full head with shower, and mini galley. Note that 78E has an integrated swim platform while the 78C has a conventional transom. Cat 1,550hp C-30 diesels cruise at 18–20 knots (low 20s top).
