The Marine Trader 49 Pilothouse is a classic long-range trawler with a prominent bow and a salty, go-anywhere appearance. Introduced as the Marine Trader 48 Pilothouse, shes built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide beam, relatively flat aftersections, and a long, prop-protecting keel. Below, the floorplan is arranged in the conventional pilothouse manner with the galley aft on the salon level and the master stateroom below the raised wheelhouse. Theres a watch berth in the pilothouse, and the amidships owners cabin includes a tub in the adjoining head. Typical of so many Asian-built yachts, the entire interior is teak and so are the decks and exterior trim. Additional features include a mast and boom, wide side decks, a spacious engine room, and a Portuguese bridge. Price-wise, these were fairly inexpensive boats, and the finish is not overly impressive. Note that the Marine Trader 49 Sundeck (198390) was built on the same hull but with a full-width salon and no side decks. Most were delivered with twin 135hp Lehmans. Perkins 160hp diesels were optional.
