A popular model, the Mainship 40 Sedan Bridge is an antry-level family boat whose spacious interior and large flybridge make her an excellent choice for day cruising and entertaining. She was built on a solid fiberglass, modified-V hull with moderate beam, and her low-profile appearance is the result of locating the engines under the cockpit sole. The single-level interior of the 40 Sedan Bridge—a step down from the cockpit level—is arranged with two staterooms forward and a spacious, full-beam salon with lounge seating for eight. A big U-shaped galley is forward in the salon, and a walkaround double berth is found in the master stateroom. This is an expansive floorplan for a 40-footer, however, the furnishings are mostly inexpensive and the finish is less than impressive. The cockpit has built-in bench seating, a transom door, and twin hatches in the sole for engine access. Topside, the flybridge has an island helm console with wraparound lounge seating. Lacking side decks, the foredeck is reached via a door in the forward flybridge coaming. Standard 320hp V-drive gas engines cruise the Mainship 40 at 16–18 knots (mid 20s top).
