The Mainship 395 Trawler is a fuel-efficient, moderately priced performance trawler with classic lines, space-efficient accommodations, and a good turn of speed. Unlike a true displacement trawler, the 395 is built on a faster semi-displacement hull with flat aftersections and a shallow, full-length keel—a hull design that provides high efficiency at slower speeds, yet can be run at planing speeds as well. She’s a surprisingly big boat inside thanks to a broad 14'3"" beam, and the floorplan manages to include double berths in both staterooms as well as a separate stall shower in the head. (Note that the guest stateroom is partially tucked beneath the raised dinette in the salon.) The galley is aft in the salon where it can be easily accessed from the cockpit. Visibility from the lower helm is excellent, and the center windshield panel swings open for ventilation. Aft, a sliding glass door opens to the covered cockpit where a series of molded steps ascend to the flybridge. Additional features include bow and stern thrusters, transom door, and flybridge seating for six. Power options included a V-drive single Yanmar 380hp diesel (8–10 knots cruise) or twin Yanmar 220hp diesels (about 15 knots at cruise).
