The Luhrs 44 Convertible was an impressive blend of style, comfort, and performance when she came out in 2003. With her powerful lines and spacious layout, she enjoyed a significant price advantage against most other convertible yachts in her class. Heavily built on a modified-V hull with a wide 16-foot beam, the interior differs from most in that the galley and entertainment center are aft in the salon while the seating areas are forward. With her long foredeck and large cockpit, the salon dimensions are somewhat modest for a 44-footer. The staterooms, however, are very spacious, and a utility space in the companionway conceals a washer/dryer unit. Note that the head is split with the toilet separated from the shower by a solid sliding door. In the cockpit, molded flybridge steps—while convenient—consume valuable cockpit space. Standard features include a hardtop with spreader lights, generator, electronic controls, bait freezer, engine crash pumps, and a huge 60-gallon livewell. A good performer for her size, the Luhrs 44 will cruise in the low-to-mid 20s with optional 635hp Cummins diesels (about 30 knots top).
