Introduced at the height of the Great Recession in 2009 (which eventually caused the demise of Luhrs), the 37 Open is one of the first express fishing boats to have been designed exclusively for Volvo IPS drives. With her wide 14'10"" beam and high bow freeboard, the 37 has the cabin and cockpit dimensions of most 40-footers. By elevating the helm deck a full two steps above the cockpit, Luhr’s engineers were able to include a second stateroom in the 37 Open complete with private head and standing headroom. The vast, open-plan salon includes a full-service galley and enclosed head (with separate stall shower) to port and a convertible settee opposite. The foot of the forward queen berth lifts up to reveal an aft-facing double seat—very clever. Note that a huge storage room is accessed through the companion bench on the helm deck. The cockpit came standard with a 35-gallon livewell, fresh/raw-water washdowns, bait prep center with sink, transom door, and fish box. A hardtop with half tower was standard. A good-looking boat with instant eye appeal, the Luhrs 37 IPS will cruise at 26 knots (30+ top) with Volvo 435hp pod drives.
