Introduced in 2000, the Luhrs 34 is an entry-level convertible with a distinctive top-heavy profile—heavily built, affordably priced, and versatile enough for fishing and cruising. Few small convertibles have been built in recent years, and the Luhrs 34 occupied a market niche without any serious competitors. Constructed on a modified-V hull with cored hullsides and a solid fiberglass bottom, a wide 13'1"" beam makes the Luhrs 34 a very roomy boat. Molded steps—instead of a ladder—lead up to the flybridge, and while the engine room is a tight fit, the cockpit access is a plus. Standard features include a molded bow pulpit, transom fish box, molded cockpit stairs, transom door, bait prep center with sink, livewell, fresh/raw-water washdowns, cockpit bolsters, gunnel rod holders, cockpit rod storage, transom fish box, swim platform, generator, and trim tabs. Below, the single-stateroom, galley-up interior with convertible salon settee (with hinged backrest), full galley, and divided head sleeps five. Note the rod storage locker in salon overhead. Standard 375hp gas engines cruise at 20 mph; optional 370hp Yanmar (or Cummins) diesels cruise in the low-to-mid 20s.
