The Krogen 58 is a full-displacement, twin-engine trawler with an Alaskan-style profile and genuine long-range capability. Built in Taiwan to Krogen’s high production standards, the 58 rides on a ballasted, full-displacement hull with cored sides and a long keel flanked by twin skegs that protect the running gear. With her raised pilothouse profile and sturdy Portuguese bridge, the no-nonsense appearance of the Krogen 58 is very appealing. Note that the deckhouse is asymmetrical: The salon extends to the port gunwale, which creates more interior space while leaving room for a secure side deck to starboard. A galley access door is a nice convenience, and the reverse pilothouse windshield reduces glare. Unlike most pilothouse designs, the master stateroom in the 58 is forward while the two guest staterooms are aft with the portside cabin doubling as an office. The engine room, accessed by doors in the lazarette or forward on the lower level, is remarkably spacious with excellent headroom and a workbench. Cherry interior woodwork, watertight doors, a folding mast, and a bow thruster are standard. At an 8-knot cruising speed, twin 154hp Deere diesels provide a cruising range of about 2,000 miles.
