It wasnt that long ago that a big center console measured from 30', maybe 32'. That changed with the advent of todays big 4-stroke outboards. As Randy Vance wrote at the time in Boating magazine, Nothing has changed the boat-building arena like Yamahas 350 V-8 outboard. Jupiter management was quick to recognize the implications of these new engines, and in 2005 the company introduced their biggest boat ever, the 38 FS. The forward seating layout features a 53-gallon stand-up livewell in the prep center, and the transom is designed to accommodate a fold-out stern seat. There are seven insulated in-deck storage compartments: two 104-gallon macerated fish boxes, two 6-foot storage boxes, one 14 cubic foot compartment forward of the console, and two overboard draining lockable rod storage boxes under the forward seating area. The 38s roomy console head compartment includes a sink, shower and additional rod storage. With her wide beam, centerline fuel tanks, and ample freeboard, the 38 is a stable and comfortable boat. A cuddy version with V-berth, refrigerator, and microwave debuted in 2007. Twin Yamaha 350s top out in the low 50s, and triple 350s reach close to 60 knots.
