Introduced in 1984, the Jefferson 45 Motor Yacht was the first boat imported and sold under the Jefferson name. A popular model (55 were sold), her appeal was a combination of sturdy construction, a full teak interior, and—compared with domestic yachts her size—a very affordable price. She was constructed on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a deep keel for directional stability. Her practical two-stateroom galley-down interior was arranged with a full dinette opposite the galley and a standard lower helm station in the salon. Unlike modern motor yachts, the Jefferson has a pair of sliding doors in the salon for easy deck access. The full-beam owner’s cabin is surprisingly spacious for a 45-foot boat with a centerline queen berth, built-in settee, vanity and generous storage. Topside, the full-width afterdeck is large enough for entertaining several friends, and wide side decks make for secure passage around the house. A radar arch, hardtop, swim platform, and bow pulpit were standard. Among several engine options, twin 200hp Perkins diesels cruise the Jefferson 45 Motor Yacht at 10–11 knots (about 15 knots top), and 320hp Cats cruise at 15–16 knots.
