A popular model, the Jefferson 42 Sundeck was largely responsible for establishing the Jefferson brand with the boating public in the early 1980s. In most respects, the 42 is typical of most Taiwan yachts of her era. Construction is solid fiberglass, and her low-deadrise solid fiberglass hull incorporates a long keel for directional stability. Several two-stateroom galley-down interiors were offered, all boasting a full-service galley, excellent storage, and a handcrafted full teak interior. Grab rails in the salon overhead are a nice touch, and a lower helm (with deck access door) is standard. Moving aft, the large master stateroom includes a walkaround queen berth, bureau with drawers, three hanging lockers, and ensuite head with tub and shower. The Jefferson’s roomy afterdeck comes complete with enclosure panels, hardtop, wing doors, and wet bar. Topside, the flybridge is arranged with the helm forward and guest seating aft. A bow pulpit, radar arch, transom shower, raw-water washdown, and swim platform were standard. Among several engine options, Cummins 250hp (or Cat 260hp) diesels cruise at a leisurely 12–14 knots.
