The Jeanneau NC 9 (NC stands for New Concept) is an innovative day cruiser whose stylish appearance, fuel efficient operation and low initial cost are a rare combination in today’s boating market. A smaller version of the NC 11, the NC 9 is a very practical boat with attractive features and a somewhat unique layout. The salon has two settees facing each other across the large dinette table. The forward settee swings up and away to form a forward facing seat while the back of the aft settee pivots to orient the salon towards the cockpit. The helm is on the port side (unusual) and has sliding door to make single-handed docking easy. The entire salon has been offset to create a wide passageway along the port side of the boat. There are two staterooms below including a guest cabin with a double bed and bulkhead door and a forward cabin with island bed. The NC 9’s large hull side windows flood the forward stateroom with natural light. There are three sliding glass panels across the back of the cabin that open up to the cockpit where the aft bench seat is set on rails and slides to increase cockpit space. A light boat for her size, the cruising speed with a single 260hp Volvo D4 diesel sterndrive engine is 20–22 knots (high 20s top).
