Introduced in 1999, the Hunt 33 is a semi-custom diesel cruiser with the Down East styling and luxury-class appointments so admired in recent yours by sophisticated boaters. Beauty is a matter of taste, of course, but by any measure the Hunt was a singularly graceful yacht by the standards of her day. Built on a fully cored hull with moderate beam and a prop pocket, the Hunt 33 was available in Express, Hardtop Express, and Hardtop Sedan (pictured above) configurations. The cabin, with its varnished mahogany trim and teak-and-holly sole, is reminiscent of a high-quality sailboat. Headroom is limited, but the accommodations are tastefully appointed and very well finished. For access to the engine, the entire bridge deck raises up on hydraulic rams. Additional features include a standard bow thruster, wide side decks, an underwater exhaust system, four opening ports, and a roomy cockpit. Designed for the cruising couple, a 370hp Cummins diesel cruise the Hunt 33 at an economical 22–24 knots and reach a top speed of around 30 knots—impressive numbers for a 33-footer with just a single engine. An optional 440hp Yanmar diesel runs a few knots faster.
