Classic Downeast styling and superior construction characterize the Hunt 29 Surfhunter, a luxury-class express whose upscale price reflects the built-in quality of all Hunt yachts. The Surfhunter is essentially a day boather oversized cockpit results in a fairly compact interior more suitable for occasional overnight stays than extended cruising. Built on a composite hull with cored hullsides and a solid fiberglass bottom, the Surfhunters single-level cockpit features an L-lounge, removable transom seating, and an aft-facing bench seat atop the engine box. Getting around is easy thanks to wide side decks, good nonskid, and high bow rails. Below deck, the Surfhunters well-appointed interior includes a fully equipped galley, enclosed head/shower, convertible dinette forward, and synthetic teak and holly cabin sole. Back in the cockpit, the engine cover lifts to reveal a single Volvo 310hp diesel with a jackshaft connecting the engine to the drive unit. Built in limited numbers, the Surfhunter 29 is available in express, convertible, or hardtop configurations. With a cruising speed in the mid 20s (about 30 top), the Surfhunters deep-V hull excels in heavy weather. An outboard version became available in 2015.
