The Hatteras 70 ranked among the biggest production convertibles of her time when she was introduced in 1988. Described by Hatteras as a dedicated sportfisherman with the best of all worlds, her 18-foot beam affords abundant storage, roomy accommodations, and sleeping arrangements for the owner, several guests, and crew. A heavily built boat, prop pockets are recessed into the hull to reduce draft and a long keel aids directional stability. Her spacious four-stateroom interior is arranged with the galley and dinette forward, one step up from the wide-open salon. All four heads have stall showers, and the full-beam amidships owners cabin features a centerline king bed, desk area, walk-in closet, and private head with shower and tub. Topside, the enclosed flybridge (with extended aft deck) features a Stidd helm chair, wet bar, and spiral staircase to the salon. A mezzanine deck overlooks the Hatteras 70s massive 160 square-foot cockpit. Additional features (and the list is long) include outside bridge controls, frameless salon windows, a complete array of fishing amenities, and a spacious engine room. Detroit 1,800hp 16V2000 diesels cruise the Hatteras 70 Convertible at 2628 knots.
