One of the premier Downeast yachts of her day, the Eastbay 54 SX incorporates the exquisite craftsmanship and classic styling long identified with the Eastbay brand. The spacious cockpit boasts three large lazarette storage compartments and aft-facing bench seats port and starboard. Entry from the cockpit to the salon is up three steps with engine room access under the steps. Perhaps the most striking feature of the Eastbay 54 is her elegant main salon with its varnished teak joinery, gleaming teak and holly sole and huge wraparound windows. Visibility from the helm is excellent and a nav station opposite the helm is large enough for a full-size chart. Forward and down three steps from salon is a large U-shaped galley with generous counter space, Sub Zero refrigeration and plenty of natural lighting. The 54 SX features a standard two stateroom interior with two heads, each with ensuite shower. An optional three-stateroom floorplan relocates the galley into the salon. An office area with desk and washer/dryer combo is standard in either layout. At over 56,000 pounds the Eastbay 54 is no lightweight. Cat 3406 800hp engines cruise in the low 20s (28–30 knots top).
