The Grand Banks 52 Europa was an evolutionary step up in size for Grand Banks when she was introduced in 1988, yet another example of the companys commitment to product development and engineering excellence. At once elegant and salty, the Europa is geared to serious long-range cruising. Built on a semi-displacement hull, buyers were able to choose the position of the engine roomit could be in front of the owners cabin or farther aft, just forward of the crew cabin. Several floorplan configurations were available, all of which provide for three or four private staterooms. One of the most distinctive design features of the 52 Europa is the enclosed pilothouse complete with a central captains chair and a slide-away privacy bulkhead. Like all Grand Banks yachts, the teak joinery is expertly finished, and abundant handholds are found throughout the interior. A crew cabin can be located beneath the aft deck, and molded steps provide easy access to the massive flybridge from the aft deck. Additional features include teak decks, a superb standup engine room, swim platform and wide side decks. Twin 450 Cat diesels cruise at 1416 knots, and 660hp Cats cruise at 18 knots (20+ knots top).
