The futuristic styling of the 62 Squadron was first seen in 1998 when Fairline introduced the smaller 52 Squadron, a cutting-edge design whose curvaceous lines won a good deal of industry attention. The 62 develops this concept even further with a creative, avant-garde interior and an innovative oval flybridge design. The luxurious floorplan, with its spacious salon and ergonomically perfect lower helm position, is arranged with a circular owner’s stateroom—an unusual but very appealing cabin configuration. The circular styling theme is most dominant in the salon with its facing curved sofas, but it’s also carried up to the oval-shaped flybridge where circular guest seating is aft and a half-moon sun pad is forward of the helm console. A bridge overhang shades the cockpit, and a hatch in the built-in bench seat provides access to the crew quarters below. On the downside, both the galley and engine room are a tight fit. Built on a deep-V hull with propeller tunnels, standard 800hp Cat diesels cruise the 62 Squadron at 26 knots (28–30 knots top), and optional 1050hp MANs cruise at a fast 28 knots (32–33 knots top).
