The Fairline 59 Squadron (called the 56 Squadron until 1995 when an extended swim platform was added) is a downsized version of the successful 62/65 Squadron introduced back in 1991. A traditional European design with sleek styling and a low-profile silhouette, she rides on the same deep-V hull with propeller tunnels used in all Squadron models. The Squadron’s lush three-stateroom interior is arranged with a split-level main deck area with the galley and dinette forward and the salon aft. A curved staircase behind the dinette leads up to the flybridge—a convenience not always found in a yacht this size and style—and there’s also a huge storage room beneath the galley floor. Topside, the cockpit is shaded by a bridge overhang and comes with a teak sole and molded step to the side decks. (An optional crew cabin could be fitted beneath the cockpit sole.) Additional features include a foredeck sun pad, a spacious flybridge with a centerline helm, and bidets in the head compartments. Standard 600hp Cat (or Volvo) diesels cruise the 59 Squadron at 24 knots (about 27 knots top). Optional 680hp MANs cruise at 25 knots (high 20s top).
