The Egg Harbor 54 Convertible is a scaled-down version of the muscular Egg Harbor 60 Convertible introduced in 1986. Like her sistership, she was built on a beamy modified-V hull with cored hullsides, a well-flared bow, and a relatively flat 7 degrees of transom deadrise. With her long foredeck and balanced profile, the 54 remains one of Egg’s better-looking boats even by today’s standards. Below deck, the floorplan is arranged with the dinette and galley forward in the salon and three staterooms on the lower level. The owner’s stateroom is amidships in this layout (note the step-down dressing room under the salon floor) and includes a queen bed and a tub/shower in the head. Like all Egg Harbor interiors, the 54 is an elegantly livable yacht inside with an abundance of well-crafted teak woodwork. At just over 100 square feet, the cockpit is about average in size for a tournament-level 54-footer and came with a molded tackle center, in-deck fish box and transom door. The engine room, however, is on the small side thanks to the extended lower-level accommodations. A good open-water performer, standard 735hp 8V92 diesels cruise at 25 knots (high 20s wide open).
