Designed for cruising, fishing, or as a general utility boat, the durable Dyer 29 is an industry classic. Production of the Dyer 29 began nearly 60 years ago making her one of the earliest fiberglass boats in the business. Each has been customized to some extent and no two are exactly alike. Built on a soft-chine hull with a full-length spray rail and prop-protecting keel, the ability of the Dyer 29 to tackle heavy seas is legendary. Those who own these boats tolerate the tight cabin quarters and intrusive engine box while delighting in the fingertip control of the 29’s easily driven hull. In addition to the popular Trunk Cabin and Bass Boat (pictured above) versions, the 29 has also been produced in Extended Hardtop and Cuddy configurations. Recent models have the engine under the bridge deck which, by eliminating the engine box, results in a much more open cockpit. Hull construction has remained largely unchanged over the years — as fiberglass technology has improved, however, the fiberglass covered plywood and solid fiberglass decks and deckhouses of earlier models have been replaced with modern fiberglass composites and balsa coring materials. Aa single 200hp diesel will cruise the Dyer 29 at 14–16 knots.
