The Cobalt R7 is a top-tier bowrider from a company whose reputation for quality is well known throughout the marine industry. Cobalt boats are known for their luxurious appointments as much as their styling and performance. The R7 rides on a Kevlar-reinforced hull which provides impressive strength and rigidity. Note that the 8'6"" beam of the Cobalt R7 means that she is fully trailerable—a good many 27-footers are not. The interior layout features a double-wide seat forward of the port console with an adjustable backrest that lets passengers face forward or backwards. To the starboard side is a small jump seat with a filler cushion that converts it to a lounge. In the cockpit, the companion seat across from the helm has a backrest that flips forward to create a rear-facing lounge. A small head/change compartment is in the port console. Further aft, there’s a rumble seat on the swim platform where the cushion in the sun pad flips up to create a backrest. Finally, the R7’s swim platform features an innovative swim step that swings up, out, and down to create a nifty underwater platform. A single 380hp MerCruiser I/O will deliver a top speed in excess of 40 knots.
