Introduced in 2015, the Cobalt A40 Coupe combines modern sportboat lines and quality construction in a day boat of considerable appeal. Perhaps her most notable feature is versatility—the spacious single-level cockpit is perfect for entertaining, and a comfortable cabin makes overnighting a pleasure. The helm area and cockpit are protected by a windshield that is integrated with the hardtop with opening vents on either side. An L-shaped settee is to port, opposite the two-seat helm. Aft of the helm seat is a concealed open-air galley with freshwater sink and barbecue. In the center aft is the sunpad (with twin backrests that allow passengers to face forward or aft) which lifts on hydraulic rams for access to the engine compartment. The optional hydraulic swim platform can be lowered at the push of a button to two feet below the water’s surface. Below decks, the A40’s well-appointed cabin features a U-shaped lounge forward that sleeps two by lowering the dinette table. Stylish windows built into the hull sides admit enough natural light to brighten the galley and dinette areas. Built on a deep-V hull with a keel pad, twin Volvo 400hp D4 diesel I/Os cruise at 24–26 knots (about 40s knots top)
