The Cheoy Lee 81 Sport Yacht is a Fexas-designed mini-megayacht built with all the redundant safety systems necessary to obtain the coveted ABS hull certification. Designed to be operated by a small crew, the 81 is constructed on a relatively lightweight fully cored hull with a wide 21-foot beam, rounded chines, and a shallow skeg. Because the engines are located aft, prop pockets are used to reduce the shaft angle. A semi-custom yacht, Cheoy Lee offers several floorplans including the standard five-stateroom, galley-up layout shown at right. A spiral staircase to the flybridge dominates the spacious salon, and the full-beam master stateroom includes a tub in the head and a huge walk-in wardrobe. On deck, the swim platform houses a PWC garage as well as access to the engine room. Additional features (among many) include a flybridge hardtop, wide walkaround side decks, shaded aft deck, salon day head, and underwater exhausts. Cat 1,400hp diesels cruise at 20 knots (mid 20s top). In 2000, the addition of V-drive transmissions permitted a reduction in size of the engine room that, in turn, resulted in an enlarged master stateroom.
