Among the many Taiwan trawlers imported into the U.S. during the late 1970s and early 1980s, the CHB 38 is notable for her classic trawler lines, space-efficient floorplan, and economical operation. Hull and deck construction is solid fiberglass, and a long keel offers good protection for the props and running gear. There were several teak interiors offered in the CHB 38 during her production years with the galley-up layout pictured below being among the more popular. A large, L-shape settee to port in the salon has with a teak high/low table, and the large U-shaped galley has an electric stove, full-size refrigerator, icemaker, and microwave. Note the teak parquet flooring and tub/shower in the aft head. Storagehanging lockers, drawers, binsis excellent, more than one might suspect in a boat this size. Both the flybridge and decks are overlaid with teak, and wide, 360-degree side decks make getting around easy. Additional features include teak window frames and handrails, folding mast, and a teak swim platform. The CHB 38 will cruise at 78 knots with a single 120hp Lehman diesel (10+ knots with twin 120s).
