Chaparral got it right with the 307 SSX, an offshore-capable bowrider whose sleek styling and versatile layout are a match for the best boats in her class. The list of standard equipment for this boat is impressive, and many of the amenities other builders consider optional—VacuFlush head, Kevlar keel, pull-up cleats, Lenco trim tabs, etc.—are included in the base price of the 307 SSX. A flared bow provides seating for five adults in the bow area (note the aft-facing bow seat), and the port and starboard seats have flip-up armrests. An enclosed head/change room with sink and opening port is concealed in the port console. The helm and companion seats are double-wide (barely), and both are equipped with flip-up bolsters. In lieu of the standard cockpit seating on the starboard side, buyers can outfit the 307 SSX with a wet bar with sink, pull-out spigot, trash bin, and removable cooler. The aft “rumble” seat converts to a sun lounge, and a power-activated ram lifts the aft seat/sun pad to reveal the engine room. Offered with single or twin engines, a pair of 300hp MerCruiser 350 MAG sterndrives will cruise the 307 SSX at 26–28 knots (40+ knots top).
