Designed for daytime fun in the sun, the well-appointed cabin and large, party-time cockpit of the Chaparral 275 SSi combine to make this one of the more attractive runabouts her size on the water. For many boaters, 27 feet is the perfect length for a sportboat: roomy enough for as many as 10, and small enough to trailer—with a heavy-duty tow vehicle and overwide permit, that is. Built on a smooth-running deep-V hull, the 275’s U-shaped cockpit seating has a clever three-position back seat that easily converts to a sun pad or aft-facing chaise lounge. At the helm, a double-wide bolster seat includes individual flip up bases. Fore and aft boarding ladders (with top-rung grab handles) make boarding easy from deep water or a sandy beach. Below, the 275’s cozy cabin comfortably sleeps two and includes a compact galley with refrigerator and microwave, and an enclosed head with VacuFlush toilet and sink. A transom shower, power engine hatch, and pop-up cleats are standard; a fold-down arch and thru-hull exhaust system were popular options. Not inexpensive, a single 280hp Volvo Duuprop tops out at close to 40 knots.
