The Carver 430 Cockpit Motor Yacht is basically a Carver 390 Aft Cabin (1987–95) with a cockpit and extended swim platform. Where the original 390 Aft Cabin was practical, the 430 Cockpit is a far more versatile yacht for entertaining as well as fishing and diving. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam, Carver packed a lot of living space into the maple interior of the 430 including a walkaround queen berth in the master stateroom, full-service galley with upright refrigerator, booth dinette, and stall showers in both heads. A serving counter forward in the salon overlooks the galley, and big wraparound windows provide plenty of natural lighting. (A lower helm was optional.) In the master stateroom, a full-height sliding glass door opens to the cockpit making it easy to board the Carver 430 without climbing any ladders. The L-shaped sofa in the salon converts to a double berth and the dinette converts to sleep two more for a total of eight berths. A wet bar with ice maker is standard on the aft deck, and storage lockers are built into the cockpit sole. On the downside, the side decks are narrow. Cummins 315hp diesels cruise the Carver 430 at 20–22 knots.
