Modern styling and roomy accommodations made the Carver 36 Aft Cabin (called the 370 Aft Cabin in 1993–96) one of the most desirable boats in her class during her production years. The market for small motoryachts was particularly intense in the 1990s, and the 36 Aft Cabin gained a reputation for being a lot of boat for the money. Built on a modified-V hull with more transom deadrise than most Carver boats, the galley-down interior features a comfortable main salon with convertible L-shaped sofa to port and optional lower helm to starboard. The forward stateroom features an angled double berth, large hanging locker, and a settee. There is a small guest head/shower on the port side. Aft of the head is a convertible U-shaped dinette, and opposite the dinette is the galley with parquet floor and full-size refrigerator. The aft stateroom has a walkaround double berth, two settees, hanging locker, and private head with separate shower stall. The aft deck is roomy compared with many other aft cabin boats this size. A hardtop, bow pulpit, foredeck sun pad, and swim platform were standard. MerCruiser 340hp gas engines cruise at 16–18 knots (low 20s top).
