When she was introduced in 1989, the Carver 3087 Allegra was considered a sporty boat with colorful hull graphics and a fairly bold appearance. That, combined with a roomy interior and a low price, made the Allegra an altogether attractive package for entry-level day cruisers. She was built on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a steep 18 degrees of deadrise aft. Theres a lot of cockpit space in the Allegramore than many express boats her sizewhich makes this a fun boat for daytime family activities. A wet bar was standard, and a U-shaped lounge aft is big enough for a small crowd. The interior of the Allegra provides sleeping accommodations for four. The master stateroom, which has a solid door rather than a privacy curtain, has an offset double berth, and of course the dinette/lounge converts to a double berth in the usual way. On the downside, the Allegras uneven fit and finish reflects her low price. Additional features include a cockpit transom door, a swim platform, and a foredeck sun pad. Twin 235hp Volvo sterndrives were standard in the Allegra. Shell cruise at 20 knots and reach a top speed of around 33 knots. Note the brief two-year production run.
