Introduced in 2016, the Boston Whaler 280 Outrage (not to be confused with the 280 Outrage produced in 200914) splits the difference between hardcore fishing machine and family-focused day cruiser. Rather than the open bow area of the original model, the updated 280 Outrage has aft-facing U-seating up front, a removable cocktail table, and an extended lounge-style console seat with flip-up armrests on either side. Like her predecessor, the 280s hardtop is integrated into the console (note the power vent above the front windshield), and an anchor chute makes it easy to set the anchor. A pair of deluxe helm chairs with bolsters are found at the helm. Fishing features include two livewells (one to port in the transom and an optional 30-gallon leaning post tank), two large in-deck fish boxes in the cockpit, and 20 rod holders. Stainless steel toe rails are positioned on both the sides of the cockpit, and an elevated casting deck with nonskid surface is at the bow. Additional features include a console head compartment, foldaway transom seat, recessed bow rails, and cockpit bolsters. Built on a deep-V hull with a keel pad at the stern, twin 300hp Verados reach a top speed of close to 50 knots.
