A handsome boat with a flared bow and muscular, low-profile appearance, the Blackfin 32 Sportfisherman began life in the late 1970s as the Maritimer 9.6. Maritimer was later acquired by Blackfin, and the 9.6 then became the Blackfin 32. Designed by well-known naval architect Charlie Jannace, the Blackfin 32 rides on a solid fiberglass deep-V hull, and her wide beam and low freeboard add a degree of stability not always found in a deep-V design. (Indeed, the 32’s low center of gravity allows her to carry several people on the flybridge without becoming tender.) The cockpit is large enough for a full-size tuna chair, and engine boxes provide excellent access to the motors. Below decks, the compact, step-down interior of the Blackfin 32—tastefully finished with off-white laminates and teak trim— features a convertible dinette to port, U-shaped galley opposite, and a standup head with shower. Topside, the roomy flybridge has bench seating forward of the helm console. No lightweight, standard 320hp Crusader gas engines cruise at 16–18 knots (mid 20s top). Optional 300hp Cats cruise at 23–24 knots, and larger 375hp Cats cruise at 28 knots and top out in the low 30s.
