You can count the number of production 29-foot flybridge sportfishing boats on one hand; most under-30-foot fishing boats are express designs. An exception to the rule, the 29 Flybridge was an extremely popular boat for Blackfin. Heavily built and expensive to buy, she’s a superb fishing boat with a clean, unobstructed cockpit and an easy-to-reach flybridge with seating for four. The fact that she has a comfortable interior only adds to her appeal. Finished with teak trim, the upscale accommodations allow her to serve as a very capable family cruiser. Raised engine boxes forward of the cockpit provide excellent access to the motors and double as bait-watching seats. Note that the flybridge was revised in 1995 with lounge seating installed forward of the newly redesigned helm console, and in 1999 the floorplan was updated. Twin 320hp Crusaders cruise the Blackfin 29 at 22 knots (about 30 knots top). Optional 230hp Volvos cruise at 24 knots (27–28 top), and those with 315hp Cummins diesels cruise at 26 knots and reach 30 knots wide open. Note that a revised version of the Blackfin 29 was produced in later years by Salt Shaker Maine.
