Built on a semi-custom basis during the early 1990s, the Black Watch 36 is a well-built flybridge fisherman with top-quality construction and excellent open-water handling characteristics. Her hull—a relatively narrow Hunt-designed deep-V—is fully balsa cored, vacuum bagged, and reinforced on the bottom with Kevlar. Aside from her graceful appearance and meticulous detailing, perhaps the most striking feature of the Black Watch 36 is her large, well-arranged fishing cockpit with its teak covering boards and low gunwales. The motors are easily accessed via engine boxes, and the flybridge is arranged with a wraparound helm console, Panish controls, and guest seating forward. Below, her rather upscale cabin is fitted with a V-berth forward, a compact galley, convertible dinette, and an enclosed head and shower. Additional features include overhead rod storage in the salon, an eye-catching teak-and-holly cabin sole, transom livewell, and a bow pulpit. At less than 15,000 pounds, the Black Watch 36 is a relatively light boat for her size due to her narrow beam and cored hull construction. Optional 300hp Cummins diesels cruise at 23 knots (18–20 gph) and reach a top speed of 26–27 knots.
