The Bayliner 5288 is a handsome pilothouse motor yacht whose principal attributes were her luxury-class accommodations and a very competitive price. Like most of Bayliners larger yachts, the 5288 was constructed on a fully cored, low-deadrise hull with a relatively wide beam. One of the big reasons for the popularity of pilothouse designs in recent years is their all-season cruising capability. Perched in the elevated wheelhouse with near 360-degree visibility, the helmsman of the 5288 can run day or night, regardless of the weather, in air-conditioned or heated comfort. There are three staterooms in the 5288, two with double berths and over/under bunks in the small portside guest cabin. While the salon isnt particularly spacious for a 52-footer, it does include a comfortable L-shaped dinette and a breakfast bar. In the cockpit, the molded flybridge steps swing up for access to a spacious engine room. Additional features include serviceable, underwater exhausts, side deck courtesy lights, tub/shower in the owners head, and large flybridge with dinghy storage. MAN 600hp diesels cruise at 20 knots (mid 20s top). Restyled and reintroduced in 2003 as the Meridian 540 Pilothouse.
