When she was introduced, the Bayliner 2958 Command Bridge (called the 2950 Command Bridge in 1988) was considered a rather stylish—if basic—flybridge cruiser with a very attractive price tag. Construction is solid fiberglass, and at just under 9,000 pounds, she’s a relatively light boat for her size. For a 29-footer, the salon is unusually spacious. A large U-shaped dinette will seat four in comfort, and wraparound cabin windows provide plenty of natural lighting. There are two “staterooms” in this floorplan: a midcabin berth with sitting headroom is located below the dinette, and the forward V-berth area can be separated from the galley with a privacy curtain. Visibility from the lower helm, with its double seat, is very good. While the cockpit is matchbox small, the flybridge will accommodate several guests without being crowded. A hatch in the cockpit provides access to the engine compartment where working space is at a premium. Additional features include a radar arch, swim platform, sliding cabin windows, and a bow pulpit. Twin 230hp sterndrive engines (standard) give the 2985 Command Bridge a cruising speed of 19 knots and a top speed of around 29 knots.
