Sleek, luxurious, and powerful the Azimut 43 combines the signature features of Azimut’s larger flybridge yachts in a smaller, more personal package. The 43 is a relatively small motoryacht by European standards but there’s nothing small about the impression she makes to anyone who steps aboard. With her luxury-class accommodations and spacious flybridge, the 43 is an impressive yacht with as much eye appeal than anything in her class. The layout includes a comfortable owner’s stateroom with centerline queen berth, guest cabin with two single berths and a convertible sleeper in the main salon. Both heads contain circular stall showers. Large windows bathe the entire salon in sunlight. Headroom at the lower helm position is tight, but most 43s sold into the American market will likely be operated from the flybridge so that’s probably not a serious issue. Note the opening port over the galley counter. The flybridge is huge for a boat this size. An extended teak bathing platform, cockpit table with chairs, bow thruster, and a foredeck sun pad are all standard. On the downside, the engine room is a tight fit. Cummins 380hp diesels cruise at 24–26 knots (about 30 knots top).

One of the early Azimut models imported into the U.S. market, the graceful profile of the 43 seems conservative compared with the lavish styling of Azimut’s more recent designs. Built on a lightweight deep-V hull with propeller pockets to reduce draft, her two-stateroom interior is an impressive display of Italian design and craftsmanship. The galley and both staterooms are down (note that a three-stateroom, galley-up layout was optional), and facing settees in the salon will seat a small group in elegant surroundings. Note that neither head has a separate stall shower; rather, bidets are installed in the European fashion. The lower helm is to port (curiously), and because the side windows are so low, visibility for a tall helmsman is marginal. The engine room is reached through a hatch in the cockpit where service access between the engines is a tight squeeze. Topside, the low side rails on the flybridge provide little security when standing up. Standard features include a huge flybridge sun pad, power side windows at the helm, built-in cockpit seating, low-profile arch, and serviceable side decks. Twin 435hp Cats cruise the Azimut 43 at 23–24 knots (high 20s top).
