Emeril Lagasse Foundation’s Line, Vine & Dine Sailfish Tournament

Emeril Lagasse Foundation’s Line, Vine & Dine Sailfish Tournament

By HMY   January 9, 2017

When Chef Emeril Lagasse isn’t busy bringing his recipes to life or raising awareness for his charitable organization, The Emeril Lagasse Foundation, he’s all about offshore fishing excursions with friends and family aboard his 70’ Viking Yachts enclosed bridge aptly named, Aldente. This February in Fort Lauderdale at Pier Sixty-Six, all of Emeril’s passions will come together in the form of his foundation's first annual charity sailfish tournament – Line, Vine & Dine. HMY Yacht Sales is pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Viking Yachts and HMY Sales Professionals Tim Gredick and Will Noftsinger, to become one of the title sponsors of Emeril's tournament. We could not be more excited for the opportunity to support such an exciting event that will benefit a truly incredible foundation.

The event will feature two fishing days and conclude with the Vine & Dine Seafood Cook-Off, featuring seafood prepared by celebrity chefs and paired with wine from some of Napa & Sonoma's best winemakers. About the Emeril Lagasse Foundation

In 2002 Chef Emeril Lagasse and his wife Alden founded the Emeril Lagasse Foundation, a 501c(3) public charity based in New Orleans. The Emeril Lagasse Foundation seeks to create opportunities to inspire, mentor and enable youth to reach their fullest potential through culinary, nutrition and arts education with a focus on life skills development. Projects supported by the Foundation include an outdoor classroom, gardens, fresh foods cafeteria and teaching kitchen at Edible Schoolyard New Orleans, which is an accessible learning kitchen for special needs students at St. Michael Special School, a four-year culinary arts program for high school students at New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, the Emeril Lagasse Foundation Hospitality Center at Café Reconcile, and hospitality training at Liberty’s Kitchen for at-risk youth preparing healthy school meals.

Successes of The Emeril Lagasse Foundation

Since its inception, the Emeril Lagasse Foundation has done a lot of good by granting more than $7 million to children’s charities in support of its specific youth education programs. Some of the tremendous strides made possible by Emeril's generous foundation include over 1500 students empowering their futures since Café Reconcile opened its door fifteen years ago, over 250 students graduating from Café Hope since opening in 2010, an incredible 33,566 suppers provided by Liberty's Kitchen to low-income school children last year - providing an additional meal that allows them to participate in enrichment activities, 204 High School culinary students have taken classes at NOCCA since 2007, and over 895,000 Second Harvest meals were served to hungry children each summer since 2010.
