This summer, treat yourself, your friends and family to the ultimate South Florida yachting experience. With its turquoise waters, breathtaking city skyline, eclectic eateries and vibrant nightlife, Miami is the premier destination for any boater to see and be seen. While there is a long list of spectacular spots to visit in Miami via boat, we highlight a handful of locales that fit the bill for perfect places to take your yacht in the Miami area.
1. Historic Coconut Grove
If you're looking to visit an area that exudes the authentic Miami lifestyle, head in the direction of Historic Coconut Grove, a tropical village that will not disappoint. Since it's beginnings in the 1800's Coconut Grove has been attracting travelers near and far to experience the little slice of paradise known as Bohemia on the bay. You can easily dock your yacht at Dinner Key Marina located in Biscayne Bay. As Florida's largest marina, Dinner Key offers boaters over 500 wet slips and over 200 moorings. Once you've arrived, you're just a short walk away from Coconut Grove's fashionable retail and entertainment district as well as their world famous CocoWalk which is the heart of The Grove. You'll find yourself surrounded by boutique shops, gourmet outdoor restaurants and idyllic views of the bay.
2. SeaSpice Miami - Miami River District
Emerging as one of the hottest areas for Miami's lively social scene, the Miami River District offers an exciting array of restaurants, lounges, shops and more. It's no secret that the rich and famous are drawn to Miami so if you're on your yacht hoping to score a celebrity sighting, there's one place you'll absolutely have to experience and it's easily accessible by yacht or boat. Exceptionally located on the banks of the Miami River is the waterfront restaurant and lounge, Sea Spice, where dining and yachting go hand in hand. Sea Spice is one of the most popular venues in all of Miami, world-renowned for their elaborate brunches and sunset dinners. Celebrities like Martha Stewart, Justin Beiber, and Cuba Gooding Jr. frequent Sea Spice for its mouthwatering seafood, handcrafted cocktails and million dollar views. Recently, the restaurant was featured on a segment of CNBC's Secret Lives Of The Super Rich.
3. Downtown Miami
Another winning location to travel to by boat is Downtown Miami and you can get there by way of Miamarina at Bayside. Relatively smaller in size than some of the area's other marinas, Miamarina offers 130 deep water slips that can accommodate boats up to 150 feet. It is located on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Once you've docked, you'll find yourself in the center of Bayside Marketplace, which is essentially an outdoor mall offering a variety of stores, cafes, restaurants and entertainment opportunities. Right alongside the marina is the American Airlines Arena, home to the NBA's Miami Heat. What could be better than hoping off your yacht, enjoying happy hour and heading to a Miami Heat game or a concert at the arena?
4. Miami Beach
If you want to experience the unforgettable excitement of Miami Beach, pull into a slip at the Miami Beach Marina. Located adjacent to Government cut, Miami Beach Marina offers over 400 slips that can accommodate yachts up to 250 feet. Here, you're granted easy access to some of the most sought after destinations in all of Miami. Explore Miami's world-famous, historic Art Deco District brimming with retro architecture, trendy shopping and stellar dining. You'll also be in the vivacious neighborhood of South Beach which offers visitors a night-life scene that entices people from all over the world, gorgeous beaches full of beautiful people and phenomenal 5-Star restaurants. HMY Yachts even has an ideally located office in the area so if you're considering listing your yacht or buying a bigger one, you can visit us in Miami Beach for all your yacht sales needs.
5. Crandon Park - Key Biscayne
If you're in the mood for a more laid back Miami setting where you and the kids can get in touch with the great outdoors, cruise over to the beautiful island paradise of Key Biscayne. Dock your boat at Crandon Park Marina where slips can accommodate vessels up to 80 feet. The marina is situated next to the beaches of Crandon Park on Key Biscayne which is a gateway to an array of eco-adventures. Beautiful reefs allow for excellent snorkeling and fishing. You'll also have the opportunity to enjoy activities like kayaking, kite-boarding and nature tours. For the avid golfer, play a round of golf a Crandon Golf Course, just down the street from the Marina.
