For over 20 years the Princess V-Class series has enjoyed wide popularity in the U.S. market. The V-Class range was rolled out in 1994 with the arrival of the Princess 39 which, in its latest guise, is still one of the company’s best sellers. A fusion of sleek styling, meticulous finish and exceptional performance, today’s V-Class series includes six deep-V models from 40 to 78 feet. Four of the newest are profiled below.
Flagship of the V Class series, the V78 takes cruising luxury to the next level.
Overview: One of the largest express yachts currently in production — an enormous widebody interior and spectacular performance rank this mini superyacht among the most exciting new models of 2019.
Layout: Access from the hydraulic bathing platform leads between twin sunbeds to a configurable cockpit, then forward to a full-service galley, dining area and saloon. The stylish main deck salon offers more sumptuous seating including an angled, port side sofa that seats guests in lavish comfort. The electric opening roof covers a living space that seamlessly connects to the world outside through full-length side windows. The V78’s foredeck features innovative seating with sunpads that convert into aft facing seats — very clever. Below deck, eight guests enjoy four beautifully appointed en suite cabins, all bathed in natural light from large hull windows. A twin cabin aft serves guests or crew. The aft bathing platform houses a garage and integrated launch system for a tender.
Performance: Standard 1,800hp MAN V12 diesels reach a top speed of 36–37 knots. Optional 1,900 MANs promise nearly 40 knots top — impressive numbers for a yacht this size.
Loaded with innovative features, the sleek lines of the V65 only hint at the opulence below.
Overview: A fusion of power and luxury, the four-stateroom V65 is a tour de force of Princess engineering and innovation. The 36-knot top speed is the best in this class.
Layout: The V65's spacious salon — easily the most impressive part of the boat — can be climate controlled or opened to the elements via triple sliding aft doors and a retractable sunroof. The aft galley layout makes serving drinks and food to the cockpit easy and convenient. Below deck, eight guests enjoy four beautifully appointed en suite cabins including a full beam amidships master and spacious VIP suite forward. Two additional staterooms are between the master and VIP, one with over-under bunks and the other with side-by-side beds. Crew quarters are aft, next to the engine room, with a head and small galley. The roomy cockpit features a U-shaped lounge that seats six comfortably. The hydraulic swim platform lowers into the water creating your own private beachside deck. A tender launch system in the garage is standard.
Performance: MAN 1,400hp V12 diesels reach a top speed of 35–36 knots.
Contemporary design and meticulous craftsmanship characterize this stunning sport cruiser.
Overview: Designed to compete in the hotly contested midsize sports cruiser market, the three-stateroom V60 is the latest evolution of Princess innovation and technology. Her open-water performance is second to none.
Layout: The V60’s galley aft arrangement features an open-plan dining area with sliding doors and a fully opening window leading out to the cockpit. A retractable sunroof above the helm area opens at the touch of a button for fresh air, while overhead skylights and massive windows all around provide panoramic views of the water. Sliding glass doors open to the aft cockpit featuring a wetbar with barbecue and cooler. Below deck, six guests are comfortably accommodated across an en suite full-beam owner’s stateroom and two further guest cabins with the option of an additional crew cabin aft. An electro-hydraulic garage door by the swim platform conceals space for a 10-foot tender. The generous foredeck of Princess V60 has a seating area and solarium with cushions and adjustable headrests.
Performance: MAN 1,200hp V8 diesels deliver a top speed of 36–38 knots.
Driven by design, the IPS powered V50 offers flexibility in abundance.
Overview: Available with an open or enclosed main deck, the versatile V50 is big on space and performance. Elegant styling and responsive handling give owners a superb offshore ride with speeds up to 32 knots.
Layout: With the Open layout — the preferred warm weather configuration — the V50’s main deck is completely open to the cockpit and dinghy garage beneath the large sunpad. The Enclosed layout trades the sunpad and garage for U-shaped cockpit seating and a hydraulic swim platform that takes on tender storing and launching duties. Large as the main deck is, the amount of space on the lower level comes as a surprise in a boat this size. The full beam master stateroom features full standing headroom lit by large hull windows while the forward cabin has a large double bed and the option of scissor berths. With a full height refrigerator, electric cooktop and space for a dish washer, the
galley of the Princess V50 is a gourmet’s delight. In both layouts, two sets of stairs lead from the swim platform to the cockpit.
Performance: Volvo 435hp IPS 600 diesels reach a top speed of 32 knots.
